How to respond when you encounter an animal that may be injured, sick, or distressed — calmly and safely.

Assess the Situation

Is the animal moving normally?
Is it alert, hiding, or unable to stand?
Are there immediate dangers nearby?

If It’s Safe

Keep others (and pets) at a distance.
Take note of the exact location and time.
If possible, take a clear photo without approaching.
